Just a nice Birthday day out in the Leicestershire countryside. Stopped off at Launde Abbey for nibbles and took the following shot of my chariot of fire.

Uppingham

Out and about in Uppingham today. Only passed thorough before, but decided to actually visit today.
Plenty of photo opportunities especially architectural details. Even if that is just worn sandstone. Tells a story if you let it. Hadn't even left the car park before I had seen my first shot. In bit of a rush, but will return and slow down and explore more next time.

A beautiful sunny morning for  a change. Still armed with the Leica M8 and Summar from yesterday. Thought would be nice to use for some colour work for chamge. Even though it was a glorious sunny morning left without the polariser. Conscious decision. Pulled into to a garage put some motion lotion in and seen this to my right.

Just for comparison I also shot the same in B+W.

Works better in colour me thinks.

Given the sunshine this morning looks like someone is an optimist.

I do like how the plant pot has been rendered. The M8 may be classed as an old camera now but when it produces images like this I have now reason to change. Is it the M8 or is it the oldy worldy glass or both?

Just out and about this morning. Had a look at a local culvert to see what the water level was like. Good as it turns out. Been there a while now but thought I would take a pic of someones handy work.

Leica M8 with Voigtlander 35mm F1.4 Nokton Classic follow up

Is it me, or does it just look like it belongs there?

Leica M8 with Voigtlander 35mm F1.4 Nokton Classic

Hello, Good evening and welcome.

To anybody that read my last post, the first thing I will say is, this lens is rangefinder coupled, unlike the 15mm. Also automatically brings up the correct frame lines. Nice. (in a "fast show" kind of way)

Nothing has changed regards the M8 part of the equation, so will concentrate on the Voigtlander 35mm F1.4 Nokton Classic.

This really is a nice lens. Sits on the M8 like it belongs there. I have used this lens extensively on my travels when using the Ricoh GXR.

Beautifully made with real materials, nicely weighted focus ring with finger indent. Aperture ring rotates smoothly with clearly defined click stops at both full and half stops.

Minimum focus is 0.7m. When in the hands and index finger in the focus ring indent, when you feel/sense your finger is at 6 o'clock position or bottom middle depending on how your brain works this is the 1.5m position. It is good to work out your own terms of reference as you can then zone focus prior to raising the viewfinder to you eye.

The focus ring moves about 120 degrees from min to infinity. Or, as you hold the cam and if yo could look through it min focus is at 8 o'clock and infinity at 4 o'clock. Like everything else, comes with practice. Also easier to show than describe.

Although the fastness of the glass was not used to capacity today. This lens is fast. Have not had the opportunity to use the F1.4 fully open on the M8, yet. Bu it worked perfectly well on the GXR, I expect nothing less on the M8.

Have to confess to being somewhat lazy when it comes to using images in this blog. I simply put up what  I have shot that day. I do not go out to specifically shot images to show or highlight anything. I simply use it as I expect/suspect most people do.

I ought to have taken a shot of the lens mounted on the M8, but I haven't. (note to self, then do it)

If you are someone that is reading this because you are thinking of buying one of these lenses. Just do it. Cracking lens.
