Looking for the surreal in the everyday. Those little transitional juxtapositions that happen in life.

Dogging
Spotted this cheeky little chappie while out and about, a woman also spotted him and we exchanged knowing smiles as just looked humerous as you approached the car. Difference being I had a cam in the hand. The worlds best camera is the one in your hand at the time.

Auto Porn 2
VW Lupo GTI
Probably a commercial flop regards VW bean counters, but a fun car from an owners perspective.
Sadly missed.
And now for something completely different 2
Second batch of Beltane pics. First pics that I have bothered to crop, all previous pics on this blog have been straight off the chip. As well as an entertaining and eye opening night; it was also cold, as the lady in the forth pic can testify.

This is somewhat behind the times now, but no matter. Some shots from The Beltane Fire Festival 2012, Edinburgh.

Shooting from the hip 2
Although these appear in Blackpool Tower 2, I am double posting as they also lend themselves to the ongoing theme of shooting from the hip. So if you missed them the first time here they are again.
What is the better title for this one. Hip to hip or Taking the bag at face value?
Really quite pleased with this one. Straight from the hip and straight from the cam. No cropping just as it was taken. Overexposed but hey, so what. For me, the moment is there, for anyone else, maybe maybe not.

Blackpool Tower 2
Blackpool Tower GXR stylee. Used a combination of Voigtlander 15 and 35mm.
Clearly, the girl above is not sold on the glass floor idea.
Shooting from the hip, hip to hip.
Glass floor? bring it on.
More from the hip.
Triffids?

Blackpool Tower 1
GRD
Seen this glass floor on a TV programme and thought I have to go and see/do that. For those not in the know this was taken at the "Eye" Blackpool Tower, Blackpool, England.
For those that may stumble upon this from outside the UK, The Blackpool Tower is our equivalent of the Eiffel Tower Paris.
Certainly sets up a feedback loop in the central nervous system. Enjoyed the experience personally and also those of others. As people are engrossed in their own experience you can get in close without really being noticed, having said that took some shots plainly with them knowing. (to follow)
GRD
Let the partner loose with the GXR. First time she had used it and loved it, struggled to get it back of of her.

New toy
I am now the proud owner of a Voigtlander 35mm F1.4 Nokton Multi-coated M mount lens. Although the following images have nothing to do with street photography I had to shoot something. So bolted it on to the GXR and burnt some pixels. The 35mm and the GXR crop factor gives me back the look of a standard 50mm. Not exact, but close enough. Having been very pleased with Voigtlander 15mm and the view that gives, I had forgotten how fast a 1.4 is, even though that was the joint primary reason for buying one. I could have done with this a fortnight ago in Edinburgh for the Beltane Fire Festival. (That is a post still to come).
The size, weight and feel are good. Smooth focus ring and half stop clicks on the aperture ring. Nice. Although tend to like black and white this lens does like colour.
For what it is worth I put the Nokton on my M3 for openers, for anyone that is interested, it does not bring up the 35mm frame lines. Hey ho.
From leica M3 to Cowon J3 and Audio Technica ES7s.
I said it likes colour.
Just need to use it on the street now. First impressions, very happy with it.

Drive by shooting 1
GRD
This may or may not develop into a little series. Images taken whilst on the move. Could result in some gems or complete rubbish. Time will tell. An early landmark in this blog, my first colour image. Yikes.

Town
GRD
Out and about in town today. The ebb and flow of punters in a strict 2 in 2 out formation. Noah would have been proud.
GRD (might have selected a tone setting by accident)
If only things were that simple, new hip or knees? Fine, just pop down to the Body Shop.

First post. Lets get naked.
A new blog for me. This one follows the trend for uploading a pic a day type format. Format maybe, will I be posting a pic a day? probably not. Week days do not often lend themselves for pic taking. The ones that are taken will likely be taken with the Ricoh GXR or Ricoh GRD, Maybe some guest posts from other cameras as well. Have always been a Pentax man and still am. However, since stumbling upon things Ricoh that has changed slightly. Slightly ironic that Pentax and Ricoh have joined up though.
Anyway, the above pic was taken while in Edinburgh recently prior to the Beltane Fire festival. www.beltane.org
Jason opening up a new leaf.
